About The Position

This position involves teaching a class in First-Year Writing for International Students, specifically ELING 150. The instructor will be responsible for guiding students in academic writing, reading, and research, with a focus on those for whom English is a second language. The role requires a strong understanding of core linguistic concepts and the social, biological, and psychological aspects of language.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics or related field required.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of core linguistic concepts (sounds, structure, meaning).
  • Must demonstrate understanding of social, biological and psychological aspects of language.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the processes of academic writing, reading, and research for international students who have English as their second language.
  • Must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
  • Must abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
  • Must support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Linguistics or related field preferred.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • If a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • Preference given to qualified candidates who are members in good standing of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Responsibilities
