About The Position

This position is for an Adjunct Teaching role in History, specifically for HIST 217 (Independent Study- University). Although the role is designated as 'Independent Study,' it requires the successful candidate to relocate to and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in family history, history, or a relevant social science or humanities is required.
  • Must have required degree by the start date.
  • Skilled in using online databases, Microsoft Office software, email, and comfortable with online teaching platforms (or comfortable learning an online teaching platform).
  • College-level teaching experience.
  • Have the knowledge and ability to teach family history in the 19th and 20th centuries, across the globe.
  • Organized and careful about time management.
  • Proficiency in using technology and learning management systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree in family history, history, or related field is preferred.
  • Professional genealogy credential completed or in the final stages of review/testing by start date.

Responsibilities

  • Teach HIST 217 with Independent Study - University.
  • Communicating with students, grading assignments/papers, and providing timely and constructive written feedback on student work.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive online learning environment that encourages student participation.
