About The Position

BYU is seeking an Adjunct Teaching - Dance Dept - Jazz Instructor to join their faculty. This position involves instructing students in Jazz technique and theory, maintaining office hours, attending faculty meetings, and teaching multiple classes per week. The role requires a commitment to the university's unique mission, which includes advancing its religious and academic goals. Successful candidates will be expected to support and contribute to the university's mission within the context of the principles and doctrines of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Requirements

  • BA or BFA required; MFA in Dance preferred.
  • Degree must be completed by the start date.
  • Two years of teaching in a studio, college, or university setting preferred.
  • Must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
  • All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • All employees are required to abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
  • Successful candidates are expected to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.

Responsibilities

  • Instructing beginning, intermediate, or advanced Jazz technique and theory classes.
  • Maintain office hours commensurate with teaching load.
  • Attend faculty meetings as called.
  • Instruct multiple classes per week.
