About The Position

Ferrum College invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Sociology for the Fall semester. The successful candidate will teach three sociology courses, including two in-person courses on the Ferrum College campus and one online course. Candidates must be comfortable teaching in both face-to-face and online learning environments and committed to engaging undergraduate students through effective, student-centered instruction.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Sociology or a closely related field required.
• Comfortable teaching in both face-to-face and online learning environments.
• Committed to engaging undergraduate students through effective, student-centered instruction.

Nice To Haves

• Previous college-level teaching experience is preferred.
• Experience with online teaching and learning management systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned sociology courses in accordance with departmental and institutional expectations.
• Prepare course materials, assess student learning, and submit grades in a timely manner.
• Maintain regular communication with students and respond promptly to inquiries.
• Hold office hours or be reasonably available to students as appropriate for an adjunct appointment.
