About The Position

Alliant University is seeking candidates for an Adjunct Professor position within the School of Nursing & Health Sciences at the Phoenix Campus. This role is part of a candidate pool for the 2026-2027 academic year. The CCNE-accredited nursing degree programs are designed to provide comprehensive, hands-on training to prepare students for the NCLEX exam, developing essential skills and critical thinking for clinical settings. Students will be trained in the latest nursing techniques and technologies, with instructors providing expertise, personalized attention, and guidance. The program emphasizes practical skills and real-world experience, allowing students to work with patients and healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in nursing with a doctorate degree preferred in nursing or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended.
  • Minimum of two years experience of full-time registered nursing clinical experience.
  • Unencumbered RN licensure in Arizona or multi-state compact license (for teaching BSN and MSN-DE programs).
  • Unencumbered RN licensure in California and state of residence (for faculty teaching in post-licensure online programs).
  • Unencumbered RN licensure in the state of residence (for other roles).
  • Proficient computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • The ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to problem solve.
  • The ability to explain complex requirements in clear and concise terms.
  • The ability to be flexible with workflow to meet the needs of the department and students and to manage multiple tasks per required deadlines.
  • The drive to encourage, direct, hold accountable and guide candidates toward task completion.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work as an effective team member and develop trusting relationships with students and Alliant employees, as well as the Registrar’s Office and various academic departments.
  • Culturally competent and ability to communicate and interact effectively with diverse people.
  • Highly motivated, focused and results oriented.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and tact in all interpersonal interactions, and to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate degree preferred in nursing or related field.
  • Experience in teaching or clinicals preferred.
  • Curriculum or course development experience preferred.
  • Certified Nurse Educator or certification in specialty area preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating Classroom and Distance/Distributed Learning.
  • Course and syllabus preparation.
  • Class curriculum coordination and planning.
  • Assessment and evaluation of learners.
  • Mentoring and advising of students.
  • Holding office hours and meeting with students.
  • Research/scholarship mentoring and supervision, particularly of MA theses, PsyD projects, and PhD, EdD, DBA dissertations.
  • Collaboration and partnering with other university stakeholders to support candidate success.
