About The Position

Adjunct faculty teach department courses on a part-time basis and evaluate student performance pursuant to guidelines set by the department and the College. Adjunct faculty report to the Department Chair for their discipline. Adjunct faculty are responsible for preparing lesson plans, teaching aids, and instructional materials or activities for class. Adjunct faculty must maintain accurate records on students and submit pertinent data to the department and/or the College.

Requirements

  • Considerable industrial experience combined with some teaching experience at the industrial and/or the college level
  • Ability to supervise student work
  • Ability to provide safety training classes for people using machine tools
  • Training and supervision of students working with conventional machine tools and/or CNC lathes and milling machines
  • Production of machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines; maintaining quality and enforcing safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies
  • Planning of machining operations by studying work orders, engineering plans, materials, tooling, and other technical specifications
  • Utilizing CAD/CAM software for specifying and analyzing orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD& T)
  • Setting up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting 3 and 4-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, indicating vices; tramming heads
  • Using coordinate measuring machines and metrology equipment for reverse engineering and inspection of parts and assemblies
  • Installing and debugging controls and instrumentation

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman’s Papers in Machining, Tool and Die Making, or Mold Making
  • Bachelor's Degree plus 30 hours of Advanced Studies in related field
