About The Position

This is a general posting that will serve to create a pool of applicants for adjunct professor openings throughout the 2026-2027 academic year. The College of Professional Studies, one of six colleges at the University of Denver, is the college of continuing and professional education and has been a leader in adult education since 1938. Our mission as a private institution dedicated to the public good is to deliver enduring professional growth and personal development by providing adult learners with access to the University of Denver through alternative educational pathways. The College of Professional Studies offers fully accredited and affordable educational experiences specifically designed for busy adults. The College of Professional Studies is seeking adjunct professors who will advance our commitment to inclusive excellence and promote our core values: honor the individual, champion learning, transform lives, work together, and pursue excellence. The application process for this role will include a discussion of teaching expectations and appointment to a rank within the Adjunct Professorial Series. Once you are hired, you can expect a comprehensive onboarding process and ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice. Our 10-week courses are offered in multiple formats, including asynchronous online, synchronous online, or hybrid (50% on campus and 50% online). College of Professional Studies uses Canvas as the learning management system (LMS) for all course delivery modes.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree and industry experience relevant to the field you are applying to teach.
  • Successful teaching/facilitation experience with adults or completion of an education/training program on adult learning.
  • Experience using learning management systems (LMS) and instructional technologies to support online teaching and student engagement.

Nice To Haves

  • Terminal degree in related field or a terminal degree and industry experience.
  • Recognition of professional accomplishment in an area of expertise related to course or courses offered within the program you are applying to teach.
  • Publication or professional presentations in the program related field.
  • Licensing and/or certification by professional organizations.
  • Completion of an education or training program on adult learning or internship/mentorship that addresses adult learning principles and practices.
