About The Position

Stark State College seeks a passionate, dedicated part-time instructor to join its Justice Studies Department. The instructor will contribute to the college’s commitment to academic excellence, student success, and community engagement by fostering a collaborative learning environment and using innovative teaching methodologies. The position involves teaching online and may require work during days, evenings, and weekends. Candidates selected for employment must reside in Ohio or be willing to relocate to Ohio.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in communication or a related discipline.
At least 18 graduate credits in Political Science.
Ability to develop and implement innovative approaches to the learning environment.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to function effectively and productively on team-based initiatives.
Ability to use technology, including MS Office programs and internet-delivered materials.
Must reside in Ohio or be willing to relocate to Ohio if selected for employment.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Political Science preferred.
Experience in college-level teaching strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Communicate course objectives, requirements, and expectations to students through weekly announcements.
Facilitate interactive discussions and foster a collaborative learning environment.
Use appropriate technologies and online platforms to deliver course content and engage students.
Provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments, papers, and classwork.
Maintain regular communication with students through online channels such as email and discussion forums.
Follow the course syllabus, academic policies, and established curriculum guidelines.
Assess and evaluate student performance, including grading assignments, exams, and other assessments in a timely manner.
Collaborate with faculty members and participate in departmental meetings as required.
Provide prompt academic support and guidance to students.
Complete required institutional training and regularly check and respond to email.
