About The Position

South Louisiana Community College is seeking an Adjunct Phlebotomy Instructor to provide instruction for Phlebotomy within the Workforce & Economic Development and Continuing Education department, specifically for the Corporate College. This role involves delivering didactic concepts, supervising students in clinical rotations, conducting clinical evaluations, and maintaining clinical competencies. The instructor will be responsible for planning and organizing instruction to maximize student learning, maintaining up-to-date course content, and assessing student learning outcomes in adherence to college, state, and federal guidelines. Additionally, the position requires effective communication skills, computer literacy, and the ability to integrate instructional technology. The instructor must demonstrate a student-centered philosophy and uphold the mission and purpose of the South Louisiana Community College Corporate College.

Requirements

  • Associate degree
  • Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience.
  • Must have one year of combined Phlebotomy field experience and formal Phlebotomy training.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
  • Must possess a current, active phlebotomy certification and a Louisiana state license or must hold a current, active Louisiana registered nurse license or be a licensed practical nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction for Phlebotomy.
  • Convene scheduled classes in accordance with college policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Exercise stewardship of college facilities and materials.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Present didactic concepts.
  • Supervise students in clinical rotations.
  • Conduct clinical evaluations of students.
  • Maintain and update clinical competencies.

  • Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field or discipline.

  • Construct competency-based syllabi.
  • Maintain up-to-date course content.
  • Provide learning activities that meet course objectives.
  • Meet learning needs of diverse student populations.
  • Integrate available instructional technology when appropriate.
  • Adhere to College, State, and Federal established deadlines for submitting reports and records related to student learning and student outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Assess Student Learning: Utilize assessment techniques to monitor student progress and success as outlined in the division and college assessment plans.
  • Demonstrate computer literacy and Internet skills.
  • Operate and stay current on instructional technology equipment (LMS, video-based learning, simulation, and virtual labs).
  • Retrieve and manage information via technology.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to provide online instruction.
  • Communicate effectively using reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
