About The Position

Bergen Community College is seeking adjunct instructors for the Horticulture program within the Biology and Horticulture department for the Spring 2027 semester. The Horticulture program focuses on ornamental plants, training students in the art, science, and business of these industries. The program emphasizes developing students' abilities in research, evaluation, and presentation of information. Faculty are encouraged to foster creative problem-solving, teamwork, individual effort, hands-on learning, professionalism, and entrepreneurship.

Requirements

• Industry experience and a firm understanding of ornamental horticulture.
• Experience in one of the following areas: Plant Propagation, Landscaping of annual plants, Landscaping of woody plants, Pests of ornamental plants, Fundamentals of Horticulture, Turf and Grounds.

Nice To Haves

• Formal education in horticulture or a related field.
• Teaching experience.
• An associate degree or higher (depending on professional experience).

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in Plant Propagation, Landscaping of annual plants, Landscaping of woody plants, Pests of ornamental plants, Fundamentals of Horticulture, or Turf and Grounds.
• Train students in the art, science, and business of ornamental plant industries.
• Develop students' abilities to research, evaluate, and organize information.
• Present findings before teachers, peers, employers, or clients.
• Encourage creative problem solving, teamwork, and individual effort.
• Foster hands-on learning, professionalism, and entrepreneurship in students.
