About The Position

This is a Part-Time Faculty Pool for available assignments during the academic year. The role involves teaching and supervising students using approved curriculum, syllabi, assessments, and instructional standards. It requires utilizing effective teaching methods, technology, and educational resources to support student learning. The position also entails assessing student performance, providing timely feedback, maintaining accurate instructional records, and advising students on academic progress. Support for student recruitment, retention, engagement, and overall success is expected. Additionally, the role includes participation in curriculum development, program assessment, continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining positive professional relationships. Completion of required reports, forms, meetings, and institutional responsibilities is necessary, along with participation in professional development to maintain current knowledge of effective instructional practices and adherence to Alvin College policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services area (Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Human Services, Addictions Counseling, or Mental Health)
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licenses Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • 3 years non-teaching work experience in the field
  • At least 3 years non-teaching related work experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Familiarity with interactive teaching methods
  • Familiarity with instruction via the Internet

Nice To Haves

  • College level teaching experience
  • Working knowledge of Blackboard course management system
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Working knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and the ability to use them responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with organizational guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and supervise students using approved curriculum, syllabi, assessments, and instructional standards.

  • Advise and support students regarding academic progress and connect them with appropriate College resources.

  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with students, colleagues, administration, and the community.
  • Complete required reports, forms, meetings, and institutional responsibilities in a timely manner.
  • Participate in professional development and maintain current knowledge of effective instructional practices.
  • Adhere to Alvin College policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
