Bentley University•Waltham, MA

About The Position

Bentley University's Computer Information Systems Department invites experienced technology professionals and educators to apply to a pooled posting for adjunct lecturers. Applications are retained and reviewed as teaching needs arise each semester; joining the pool does not guarantee an assignment. Adjuncts teach at the intersection of technology and business, at undergraduate and graduate levels. Courses cover information technology foundations; data and databases; programming and application development; artificial intelligence and analytics; cybersecurity and infrastructure; business processes, systems analysis, and enterprise systems; and financial technology. Applicants should identify the specific courses they are prepared to teach in their cover letter. Undergraduate CIS courses are taught in person on Bentley's Waltham campus, and instructors must be available to teach during the day, Monday through Friday. Undergraduate sections may be scheduled during the day or evening. Graduate courses are generally hybrid, and some courses are also offered online. Section formats and expectations are confirmed with the department before each term. Assignments depend on enrollment and department needs. The required qualifications include a related graduate degree and, for candidates without a doctorate, significant professional experience in the subject taught. Candidates must be able to teach in person on campus and explain technical material clearly to business students. A doctorate, college teaching experience, breadth across the CIS catalog, relevant certifications, recent professional engagement, adult training experience, learning-management-system experience, active-learning practice, responsible integration of generative AI, and commitment to student success are preferred. Adjunct faculty compensation for the 2025–26 academic year is $7,225 per course. Courses with labs and other four-credit courses have a higher minimum rate of $9,333 per course. Compensation is governed by the collective bargaining agreement between Bentley University and SEIU Local 509. Bentley requires reference checks and may conduct other pre-employment screening.
