About The Position

Bentley University’s Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department invites experienced technology professionals and educators to apply to a standing pool for adjunct lecturer assignments as teaching needs arise each semester. The department teaches undergraduate and graduate courses at the intersection of technology and business, covering information technology foundations; data and databases; programming and application development; artificial intelligence and analytics; cybersecurity and infrastructure; business processes, systems analysis, and enterprise systems; and financial technology. Applicants should identify the specific courses they are prepared to teach in their cover letter. Joining the pool does not guarantee an assignment. CIS has 31 full-time faculty and offers undergraduate majors and minors, supports graduate programs in business analytics, AI, and FinTech, and teaches courses taken by students across Bentley University. Courses may be undergraduate or graduate level. Undergraduate CIS courses are taught in person on the Waltham campus, and instructors must be available during the day Monday through Friday. Undergraduate sections may be scheduled during the day or evening; graduate courses are generally hybrid, and some courses are offered online. Assignments, format, meeting times, and instructor expectations are confirmed with the department before each term. Adjunct lecturers teach assigned sections according to approved course descriptions and learning outcomes, maintain course materials and records in Brightspace, provide timely student feedback, hold consistent in-person office hours, and fulfill university deadlines and training requirements. They uphold academic integrity, support approved accessibility accommodations, contribute to assessment and teaching improvement, and keep course examples current with professional practice. Applicants must have a relevant graduate degree and be able to teach in person on Bentley’s Waltham campus and explain technical material clearly to business students. Candidates without a doctorate must have significant professional experience in the subject they teach. For FinTech courses, a graduate degree in finance or a related field combined with substantial technology experience is acceptable. Compensation for the 2025–26 academic year is $7,225 per course, with a higher minimum rate of $9,333 per course for courses with labs and other four-credit courses. Compensation is governed by the collective bargaining agreement between Bentley University and SEIU Local 509.
