About The Position

KyCAD is seeking an Adjunct Lecturer of Studio Art for a six-week course, STU492: Special Topics: Experimental Animation, during Fall 2026, Session 2 (October 13-November 20, M-R 1:30-5pm). This elective studio course explores frame-by-frame animation as an experimental, time-based practice that blends sculpture, performance, and moving image. The course emphasizes improvisation, chance, and repetition, using the camera as a tool to investigate time, movement, and space. Projects will focus on site-specificity, installation, and hybrid presentation formats. Stop motion will serve as a laboratory for exploring how images can capture, transform, and challenge our perception of the world. The position reports to the Chair of Studio Art.

Requirements

  • Master of Fine Arts Degree in Studio Art, Animation, Digital Media, or a related discipline, or a master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate course credit hours in studio art, animation, digital media or recognized professional accomplishments in a related field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Evidence of teaching ability, curricular development, and pedagogical effectiveness.
  • Sensitivity and ability to successfully interact with diverse populations.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings, including a national background check.
  • Ability to complete Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) online training.

  • Preferred teaching experience: 3 years.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach to the objectives of the approved curriculum.
  • Submit syllabi and other instructional materials in a timely manner.
  • Maintain records of student academic progress and attendance, evaluate the level of achievement, and assign grades for the program.
  • Complete an end-of-term art assessment form for the course.
  • Maintain regular communication with students and use the Academic Alert notification process when appropriate.
  • Assess student work in a timely manner and submit course grades by the posted deadline.
  • Incorporate inclusive and effective teaching methods/styles that support successful learning for a diverse student population.
  • Infuse multicultural and diverse perspectives into the instructional process and conduct classes in a manner that demonstrates respect for individual and cultural differences.
  • Model and cultivate open-minded inquiry, an appreciation for diverse perspectives, and creative problem-solving.
  • Develop and maintain healthy and positive working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and administration.
  • Embrace and enhance the college's culture to help ensure continued engagement, motivation, and success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
