About The Position

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach American Sign Language or interpreter training courses at the post-secondary level. This role involves teaching courses in-person, assessing student work, and adhering to course objectives and syllabi. The position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in ASL, Interpreting, or other related fields
  • Native or native-like competency in ASL
  • Knowledge of classroom instruction
  • Ability to manage, motivate, and evaluate a diverse population of students
  • Collegial and cordial attitude toward interaction with colleagues, students, and staff
  • Demonstrable content knowledge of American Sign Language and Deaf Culture and closely related fields and the ties between the field and various allied disciplines
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
