About The Position

This course features a study of the philosophical and religious theories and principles used in approaching ethical problems, with particular attention to the Christian ethical tradition. The focus of the course will be on the ethical challenges of the contemporary world, including those in the student's field of concentration. Stress will be placed on skill development in ethical reflection and analysis. The instructor has the freedom to construct a syllabus and decide on course content in consultation with the department Chair, as long as the course description and outcomes are unchanged. Essential Functions include ensuring appropriate pedagogical design, implementation, and assessment of the course, and providing timely feedback to students. Adjunct instructors are not expected to attend school or department meetings, conduct academic advising, or serve on standing committees.

Requirements

  • An advanced degree (PhD preferred but not required) in a discipline related to ethics, the humanities, religious studies, or philosophy
  • At least two years teaching experience
  • At least two references

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring appropriate pedagogical design, implementation, and assessment of the course
  • Providing timely feedback to students
  • Holding office hours at least 2 hours/week (this can be done via Zoom)
  • Ability to interact in a positive manner with a diverse group of co-workers and students while upholding the College’s commitment to inclusive excellence.
  • Carry out functions as they may be appropriate for the position.
