About The Position

Gateway Community & Technical College is seeking a part-time adjunct instructor to teach JUS 101U: Introduction to Criminal Justice beginning Fall 2026. The course is delivered in a traditional in-person format at the Center for Technology, Innovation, and Enterprise on Madison Avenue in Covington on Mondays and Wednesdays 9:30a – 10:45a and introduces students to the criminal justice system, its components, functions, and contemporary issues.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field; OR Master's degree in any field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Criminal Justice; OR Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited institution

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching experience in higher education
  • Previous experience in a community college setting
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (such as Blackboard, Canvas, etc.)
  • Significant professional experience in the criminal justice field
  • Strong dedication to enhancing student learning and achievement
  • Experience in academic advising and supporting student success
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and teaching methods is highly valued

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate engaging in-person instruction and student learning in the classroom
  • Prepare and deliver course content consistent with established student learning outcomes
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports student success
  • Provide timely communication, grading, and feedback to students
  • Maintain accurate attendance and academic records
  • Utilize the college learning management system to support instruction and communicate with students
  • Participate in required college and division processes related to instruction and assessment
  • Collaborate with program faculty and administration as needed
