Prairie View A&M University’s Department of Curriculum & Instruction is establishing a pool of qualified applicants for potential non-tenure-track Adjunct Instructor appointments during the 2026–2027 academic year. These are temporary, part-time appointments (less than 50 percent effort), made by semester on an as-needed basis. Selection depends on curricular and student needs, and applicants may not be selected for the current academic year. Teaching assignments may be made for Spring 2027 or Summer 2027 and may involve up to six undergraduate or graduate semester credit hours per assigned semester, within the instructor’s verified area of expertise. Courses may be taught online, in a hybrid format, or face-to-face, at the Prairie View A&M University campus and/or remotely, depending on the assignment. Compensation is per course, with a minimum of $3,000 per section per semester; the amount depends on factors including discipline, modality, and faculty credentials. Teaching areas include literacy and reading, mathematics education, social studies education, science education, elementary education, special education, and educational methods. Instructors are expected to develop and deliver standards-aligned syllabi, assignments, assessments, and timely feedback; follow approved curricula and program learning outcomes; use the university learning management system to maintain an accessible, organized course and communicate regularly with students; and integrate applicable TEKS, Texas educator-preparation expectations, teacher-certification content and pedagogy, and evidence-based instructional strategies. Instructors must document student progress and participate in required orientation, training, course coordination, and assessment reporting. Undergraduate-level instructors need a doctorate or master’s degree in the teaching discipline, or a master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline demonstrated by at least 18 graduate semester hours in that discipline. For graduate and post-baccalaureate courses, instructors need an earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. Applicants must identify each discipline for which they seek consideration and provide graduate transcripts showing the qualifying coursework. Credentialing is reviewed for each course assignment. K–12 classroom teaching experience and a state-issued educator teaching license or certificate are preferred but not required; prior collegiate teaching experience is also preferred. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis as needs arise. Applicants must complete all application fields and attach a cover letter, resume or curriculum vitae, and graduate degree transcripts. Official transcripts are required upon selection of a final candidate. Employment is contingent on credential verification and completion of a criminal history check.
