About The Position

The primary duty is effective teaching of college-level teacher education for the Gifted Education Teacher Education. San Juan College may approve remote or hybrid work for adjunct employees within New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Texas (states subject to change at any time). All requests for remote work must be approved in advance by the Dean and Human Resources. Remote work options for locations outside of the United States are not permitted.

Requirements

  • Active NMPED teaching license
  • Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in gifted education coursework from an accredited college or university
  • Access to home internet, a personal computer, and telephone
  • Demonstrates skill and willingness to learn and use multiple technology platforms to communicate with students
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume
  • Unofficial Transcripts with qualifying degree conferred
  • Satisfactory background check

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience
  • Experience with traditional face-to-face, hybrid and online courses
  • Ability to use San Juan College’s Learning Management System (Canvas)
  • Ability to use technology-enhanced curriculum

Responsibilities

  • Developing and revising instructional materials
  • Presenting material in an organized manner
  • Evaluating student learning
  • Maintaining student records
  • Teaching day, evening, weekend, and on-line classes, as assigned
  • Teaching at the main and/or satellite campuses, as assigned
  • Maintaining a minimum of 1 office hour per week per assigned course
  • Participating in Adjunct Professional Development activities
