About The Position

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is seeking a part-time Adjunct Instructor for the Early Technical College Machine Tool Technology class at the Clarksville Campus. This role involves providing in-person theory and hands-on skills instruction to dual-enrolled high school students. Key areas of instruction include blueprint reading, shop theory, precision measuring, technical math, CAD, safety, and basic metallurgy. The instructor will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating student progress, maintaining student records using the college's software, keeping appropriate documentation, and submitting timely reports. The position is part-time, with scheduled work hours from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, between August and May each year. The scheduled class hours are 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. This is an on-site position and reports to the Clarksville Campus Director.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Technical Diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in related field. A comparable combination of education and directly related work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in the Machine Tool field.
  • Must possess a high degree of knowledge in blueprint reading, shop theory, precision measuring, and technical math.
  • Must possess the organization and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and to interact with high school students.
  • Must show evidence of good character and mature attitude.
  • Must be willing to remain current in the field of instruction.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the general public and business/industry representatives.
  • Only U.S. citizens and aliens authorized to work in the United States may be employed.
  • A criminal/financial background check will be required for the applicant selected.

Responsibilities

  • Providing in-person theory and hands-on skills instruction to dual-enrolled high school students.
  • Instructing in areas such as blueprint reading, shop theory, precision measuring, technical math, CAD, safety, and basic metallurgy.
  • Monitoring, grading, and evaluating individual student progress.
  • Maintaining student records in the college’s student records management software.
  • Maintaining appropriate documentation.
  • Submitting timely reports.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
