About The Position

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is accepting applications for the part-time position of Adjunct Instructor for the Early Technical College Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration class at the Clarksville Campus. The Adjunct Instructor in the Early Technical College Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration class is responsible for providing in-person theory and hands-on skills instruction to dual-enrolled high school students. Areas of instruction include print reading, technical math, basic electronics, pneumatics, programmable controllers, refrigerant containment certification, heat pump technology etc. The Adjunct Instructor must monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the college’s student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; and other duties as assigned. This position is part-time and reports to the Clarksville Campus Director. Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. between August and May each year. Scheduled class hours are 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Technical Diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in related field. A comparable combination of education and directly related work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in the HVAC field.
  • Must hold current EPA 608 certification.
  • Must possess a high degree of knowledge in print reading, technical math, basic electronics, pneumatics, programmable controllers, refrigerant containment certification, and heat pump technology.
  • Must possess the organization and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and to interact with high school students.
  • Must show evidence of good character and mature attitude.
  • Must be willing to remain current in the field of instruction.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the general public and business/industry representatives.

Responsibilities

  • Providing in-person theory and hands-on skills instruction to dual-enrolled high school students.
  • Instructing in areas including print reading, technical math, basic electronics, pneumatics, programmable controllers, refrigerant containment certification, and heat pump technology.
  • Monitoring, grading, and evaluating individual student progress.
  • Maintaining student records in the college’s student records management software.
  • Maintaining appropriate documentation.

  • Performing other duties as assigned.
