About The Position

Heidelberg University is accepting resumes for an adjunct pool in the School of Natural Sciences and Nursing. An Adjunct Instructor in the School of Natural Sciences and Nursing provides instruction to undergraduate students in one or more of the following course subjects: biochemistry, biology, chemistry, computer science, data analytics, environmental science, mathematics, nursing and/or physics. Adjunct instructors will teach part-time on an as-needed basis and should be willing to teach in a variety of formats, including in-person, hybrid, and online, and at varied class times that may include evenings according to program needs. Applications will be accepted into the pool on an ongoing basis.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree or appropriate professional experience in a related field.
  • Teaching/Instructional experience.
  • Ability to relate to a diverse cross-section of individuals.
  • Must demonstrate analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to student-centered active learning and student engagement activities.
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, and appreciation for a liberal arts tradition.
  • Commitment and a demonstrated record of academic excellence with professional and personal integrity.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A demonstrated work ethic that promotes teamwork, enhances creativity and motivation and builds consensus in a high-energy and high-task environment.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability or willingness to learn to manage class in an online learning modality

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. or ABD in a related field
  • Documented background in the related instructional area.
  • Two years of college-level teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, computer science, data analytics, environmental science, mathematics, nursing and/or physics as needed in Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters based on candidate expertise and qualifications. Courses could be assigned as in-person or online instruction.
  • Utilize innovative and collaborative teaching methods in support of the School’s mission and learning objectives.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned/as outlined in the Faculty Manual
