About The Position

Greenville University is seeking an adjunct instructor capable of teaching the General Biology II with associated labs. The course focuses on diversity of life including the phylogeny, characteristics, and importance of major phyla; evolution; and structure and function of selected plant and/or animal systems. (Three-hour lecture and two-hour lab sections per week). The labs must meet in person. The selected candidate is expected to perform instruction and other duties (as assigned) in the Biology program at Greenville University. Exceptional candidates will have demonstrated prior experience in faith and learning integration or express an explicit desire to implement faith and learning integration into the classroom. This position is supervised by the Division Chair for Math and Sciences and the Chief Academic Officer. Greenville University utilizes the Desire2Learn platform for all programs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (required), or higher degree, in a field of Biology, or equivalent education & experience
  • Teaching skills and practical experience in the related course material is expected
  • Must be well organized and able to present material using a variety of methods in the online environment
  • Be open to instruction and utilize best practices for online instruction
  • Possess excellent people skills
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Clearly understand and internalize the mission of Greenville University, and the value of a Christian Liberal Arts University.

Benefits

  • The rate of pay is determined by course enrollment on the add/drop date, which is 10 days after the start of the course (5 days for Block courses). Average pay is between $2,000-$3,000 per 3 credit hour course.
