About The Position

The Department of History at the University of North Texas seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor pool for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters. The specific courses and openings will vary based on departmental needs. Anticipated courses include HIST 4750 Social Studies Teaching Methods (Denton campus) and U.S. Surveys to/from 1865 (Denton and Frisco campus). The Department of History is recognized for its research in oral history, Texas and American South histories, food studies, military history, medical humanities, and digital scholarship.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in the discipline or a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours directly related to the assigned courses(s).
  • Ability to communicate with others to exchange information.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in History.
  • Two or more years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
  • Experience teaching online and the ability to use Canvas.
  • Experience with HSI/MSIs.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or Yoruba.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses, which may include HIST 4750 Social Studies Teaching Methods and U.S. Surveys to/from 1865.
  • Communicate with others to exchange information.
