About The Position

The Department of English at the University of North Texas seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor Pool. This posting is for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters. The specific courses may vary, and openings will develop periodically based on departmental teaching needs. The study of English language and literature at UNT provides students with an intellectual foundation that enriches their lives and prepares them for various professional paths. The department offers courses in literature, creative writing, and rhetoric and composition, fostering critical thinking, deep reading, and clear writing skills. UNT has a diverse campus, and the department welcomes candidates with experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak multiple languages.

Requirements

  • MA or MFA and 18 graduate credit hours completed in English, Creative Writing, or closely related field.
  • At least one year of experience teaching college-level English.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Canvas or similar system.
  • Experience with a diverse student population.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse staff and students.
  • Experience/training teaching Developmental Writing.
  • Experience with HSI/MSIs.
  • Ability to speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
