About The Position

The Department of English at Calvin University is seeking applications for part-time instruction in creative writing, specifically fiction. There may also be a need to teach English 101: Written Rhetoric. This appointment is for the spring semester, commencing in January 2027.

Requirements

• A commitment to the Christian faith and a willingness to integrate that faith into classroom teaching and student development is essential.
• Candidates are expected to affirm the Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed.
• All applicants must have a strong and active record of publication in fiction.
• All applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods and instructional technology as required.
• Demonstrated awareness and commitment to effectively establishing relationships and positive communication across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to, race, gender, physical limitations, class, or religious perspectives.

Nice To Haves

• An MFA is preferred.
• Teaching at the university level is preferred.
