English - Adjunct Instructor
About The Position
The College of Arts & Sciences Department of English at Sacred Heart University is seeking adjunct faculty to teach core program courses in English and First Year Writing. These courses include Experiencing Literature (a foundational core program course in literature) and/or the First Year Writing Seminar (a core program in writing for freshmen). The English and Writing faculty are dedicated to providing students with solid oral and written communication skills and literary competency, sharing a love for the written and spoken word while preparing students for professional life. The department aims to coordinate its curriculum with the University's mission, foster vigorous faculty development, remain current in the discipline, create an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation, and focus on each student as a unique human being.
Requirements
- MA, MFA, or PhD
- Excellent teaching skills and references
- Ability to work outside of one's area of specialization
Responsibilities
- Teaching Experiencing Literature (ENG 201)
- Teaching the First Year Writing Seminar (FYWS)
- Actively promote a collegial environment
