Adjunct Instructor, Computer Information Technology (Temporary Part-Time)

About The Position

Adjunct instructors are needed to teach online courses within the Computer Information Technology (CIT) program. Courses may include CIT 170 – Database Fundamentals, CIT 180 – Security Fundamentals, and CIT 144 – Python Programming I. These courses will be delivered in an online format utilizing the Blackboard Learning Management System.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the subject area(s) being taught.
  • Ability to effectively deliver instruction in an online learning environment.
  • Extensive experience with database technologies such as: Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, Other comparable database platforms and technologies (for CIT 170).
  • Background in computer security or cybersecurity, Experience with information security concepts, best practices, and security principles (for CIT 180).
  • Extensive programming experience, Demonstrated proficiency in Python programming fundamentals (for CIT 144).

Nice To Haves

  • CompTIA Security+ certification strongly preferred (for CIT 180).
  • Experience teaching or mentoring programming students preferred (for CIT 144).
  • Experience teaching in higher education, workforce training, or adult education.
  • Working knowledge of the Blackboard Learning Management System.
  • Experience developing and delivering online coursework.
  • Familiarity with instructional technologies and online student engagement strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality instruction in assigned Computer Information Technology courses.
  • Develop and maintain course content, assignments, assessments, and related instructional materials.
  • Deliver instruction and facilitate student engagement through the Blackboard Learning Management System.
  • Maintain accurate student records and submit required reports in accordance with college procedures.
  • Provide timely feedback to students and support their academic success.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and program administrators.
  • Adhere to all KCTCS and SKCTC policies and procedures.
