About The Position

Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) is seeking applications for adjunct teaching positions in Engineering. The Engineering Transfer program is a two-year program designed to build a solid foundation in engineering (mechanical, electrical, and civil) with the intent to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a bachelor's degree. This role requires proficiency in core engineering principles and practices relevant to the courses taught, including mathematics, physics, and specific engineering disciplines. The position is part-time, semester-to-semester, and non-benefited.

Requirements

Master's degree within the field or Master's plus 18 credits of graduate-level work specific to the field.
College teaching experience, high school teaching experience, or adult education experience.
Proficiency in the core principles and practices of engineering relevant to the courses being taught, including mathematics, physics and specific engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering.
Proficiency in analyzing and designing structures such as buildings, bridges, and dams for strength, stability, and load-bearing capacity.
Proficiency in statics, dynamics, and mechanics of materials, including stress analysis and deformation.
Knowledge of fluid dynamics, fluid properties, and applications in areas such as hydraulics and aerodynamics.
Ability to design mechanical systems and components using CAD software, and knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials selection.
Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and accessible manner, both verbally and in writing, to students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
Flexibility to adjust teaching methods and materials to accommodate the needs and learning styles of diverse student populations, including non-traditional, adult learners, and students with varying levels of prior knowledge in engineering.
Skill in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment, managing classroom dynamics, and fostering student engagement through interactive teaching methods, group activities, and hands-on learning experiences.
Capacity to provide academic and career guidance, mentorship, and support to students pursuing careers in engineering, including advising on academic pathways, internship opportunities, and professional development resources.
