About The Position

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach in Germany for the Artificial Intelligence Program. UMGC is a mission-driven institution committed to serving adult learners, including those juggling careers, families, and other priorities. Many UMGC students are working professionals, parents, and minority students seeking to enhance their lives and careers. UMGC is also a leading provider of higher education for the U.S. military, serving active-duty service members, reservists, National Guard members, veterans, and their families. The role of an adjunct faculty member at UMGC is to act as a scholar-practitioner, bringing real-world professional experience into the classroom to guide and inspire the next generation of professionals. This involves actively engaging students, facilitating collaboration and application of learning, providing constructive feedback, demonstrating current subject-matter expertise, and contributing to curricular improvements.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Analytics or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Data Analytics.
  • Local applicants only.
  • Applicants must have and be able to maintain their own legal status in the country in which they apply to teach.

Nice To Haves

  • Terminal Degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Analytics or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Industry Certifications in ML, AI, Data Science from Microsoft, IBM, AWS.
  • Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage students though frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed, and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning.
  • Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations.
  • Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments.
  • Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
  • Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.
