About The Position

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach in Germany for the Artificial Intelligence Program. UMGC is a mission-driven institution committed to serving adult learners, including working professionals, parents, minority students, and the U.S. military community. The adjunct faculty role is for scholar-practitioners who are actively engaged in their field and wish to mentor the next generation of professionals. This involves actively engaging students, guiding them in applying their learning, providing constructive feedback, demonstrating subject-matter expertise, and contributing to curricular improvements.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Analytics or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Data Analytics.
  • Must be a local applicant.
  • Must have and be able to maintain own legal status in the country in which they apply to teach.

  • Unofficial transcripts for all conferred graduate degrees with conferral date (or credential evaluations)
  • Official transcripts will be required as part of the selection process.
  • If degrees were earned from an institution(s) outside the US: UMGC requires a 3rd party credit evaluation from a NACES approved vendor.

Nice To Haves

  • Terminal Degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Analytics or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Industry Certifications in ML, AI, Data Science from Microsoft, IBM, AWS.
  • Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.
  • Cover letter highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage students though frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed, and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning.
  • Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations.
  • Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments.
  • Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
  • Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.
