About The Position

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach in Italy for the Artificial Intelligence Program. UMGC is a mission-driven institution committed to adult learners, serving approximately 90,000 students globally. The typical UMGC student is an adult learner juggling a career, family, and other priorities, with a significant portion being full-time workers, parents, and minority students. UMGC is also a leading provider to the U.S. military. The adjunct faculty role involves being a scholar-practitioner, actively engaged in their field while helping to educate the next generation of professionals. This includes motivating students, guiding them in applying their learning, providing constructive feedback, demonstrating current subject-matter expertise, and offering feedback on curriculum.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Analytics or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• 3-5 years of professional experience in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Data Analytics.
• Local applicants only.
• Applicants must have and be able to maintain their own legal status in the country in which they apply to teach.

Nice To Haves

• Terminal Degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Analytics or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Industry Certifications in ML, AI, Data Science from Microsoft, IBM, AWS.
• Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage students though frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed, and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning.
• Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations.
• Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments.
• Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
• Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.
