About The Position

Adjunct faculty are responsible for teaching, tutoring, instructing, or lecturing within a specified area of expertise or academic discipline. This role involves preparing research and organizing specific courses as contracted. The primary function is to impart knowledge effectively to students.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree
  • Valid ARRT, ARDMS, NMTCB or CMD registration as applicable.

  • 5 years clinical experience in related field

Responsibilities

  • Prepares comprehensive syllabus for each course in keeping with Department/College guidelines, including a clear statement of objectives and procedures for each course and provision of relevant criteria and processes for evaluation of student performance.
  • Requests, through appropriate and advance departmental requisition or procedures, all required textbooks and related materials, including audio-visual equipment.
  • Requests library holdings and acquisitions that are adequate to any and all course requirements.
  • Holds classes as scheduled, requesting prior approval by supervisor (i.e., Chair, Dean or Program Director) of cancellation and/or arrangement of a substitute if necessary.
  • Confines lectures and related classroom activities/instruction to topics which fall within one’s competence and that are germane to the course.
  • Evaluates thoroughly, including the placement of appropriate comments and the earned grade on the assignment and promptly returns all written work required of students.
  • Administers final examinations at the times and places indicated in the final examination schedule.
  • Respects the intellectual integrity of students and colleagues, encouraging informed dialogue and protecting responsible dissent.
  • Protects the academic, as well as the personal, privacy of students.
  • Notifies the supervisor (i.e., Chair, Dean, or Program Director) in a timely manner of any requirements for physically handicapped or linguistically deficient students.
  • Meets with students regarding their course-related questions or concerns so that their needs are fairly served.
  • Strives constantly to improve one’s teaching methods.
  • Maintains and improves ones competence and knowledge within one’s academic discipline or area of expertise.
  • Gives fair and adequate notice to any student whose conduct may be cause for administrative withdrawal from the course.
  • Assists students professionally through the prompt writing of letters of recommendation, when requested or inform students whenever such accommodation cannot be granted.
  • Shows respect for the rights of the instructors with adjoining or succeeding classes.
  • Adheres to the deadline published in tile Academic Calendar of the College for submitting final grades to the Registrar.
  • Post final grades on banner by registrar due date.
  • Provide syllabus to the Administrative Assistant.
