Adjunct Faculty-Medical Biochemistry
About The Position
The University of Pikeville seeks adjunct faculty dedicated to excellence in teaching and student learning. This position is directly responsible for online/remote teaching in medical biochemistry. The course is offered on accelerated eight-week terms and delivered asynchronously through the Canvas Learning Management System. Positions are available in the spring, summer, and fall semesters, and applications are reviewed as needed. Part-time faculty members are encouraged to attend professional development workshops when possible. These workshops support the use of educational technology, student engagement, and reflection on methods for creating effective environments for student growth. Final applicants undergo background investigations, including a criminal history record check and, when appropriate, a financial and/or motor vehicle history check. Applicants are asked to provide a letter of interest, current curriculum vitae, copies of transcripts, a teaching philosophy statement, and contact information for three to five professional references.
Requirements
- A terminal degree, specifically a PhD, is required.
- Online teaching experience.

Responsibilities
- Teach medical biochemistry.
- Prepare lectures, lecture notes, learning objectives, PowerPoint slides, exam questions, and syllabi for accelerated eight-week terms, delivered asynchronously through Canvas Learning Management System.
- Participate in and recommend curriculum development and evaluation.
- Foster an engaging learning environment using innovative pedagogical practices.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
