Adjunct Faculty-Medical Biochemistry
About The Position
The University of Pikeville seeks adjunct faculty dedicated to excellence in teaching and student learning. This position is directly responsible for online/remote teaching in medical biochemistry. Courses are offered in accelerated 8-week terms and delivered asynchronously through Canvas Learning Management System. Part-time faculty are encouraged to attend professional development workshops when possible to improve their use of educational technology, find ways to better engage students, and reflect on methods for creating effective environments for student growth. Positions are available in the spring, summer, and fall semesters, and applications are reviewed as needed. Final applicants undergo background investigations, including a criminal history record check and, when appropriate, a financial and/or motor vehicle history check. Applicants are requested to submit a letter of interest, current curriculum vitae, copies of transcripts, a teaching philosophy statement, and contact information for three to five professional references.
Requirements
- Must have a PhD, as the required terminal degree.
- Online teaching experience.
Responsibilities
- Teach medical biochemistry.
- Prepare lectures, lecture notes, learning objectives, PowerPoint slides, exam questions, and syllabi.
- Participate in and recommend curriculum development and evaluation.
- Foster an engaging learning environment using innovative pedagogical practices.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
