About The Position

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on-site at Minot Air Force Base, ND, for the Finance and Economics program. Specifically, we are seeking faculty for the Principles of Macroeconomics (ECON 201) course. This introductory course applies macroeconomic theories to real-world situations, covering economic growth, technological innovation, unemployment, inflation, and the roles of monetary and fiscal policy. UMGC is a mission-driven institution committed to adult learners and is a leading provider of higher education to the U.S. military. The role emphasizes engaging students, guiding collaboration, providing constructive feedback, and connecting concepts. Faculty are expected to be scholar-practitioners, actively engaged in their fields.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Finance or Economics, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning
• Professional experience in Economics / Finance or related field
• Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred
• Resume / Curriculum Vitae
• Cover Letter highly preferred

Nice To Haves

• Terminal degree in Finance or Economics, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning
• Certified Management Accountant certification

Responsibilities

• Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning
• Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations
• Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments
• Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program
• Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements
