About The Position

This is an open posting inviting qualified candidates to submit an application for consideration for future part-time adjunct faculty openings. Responsibilities include teaching Technical Problem Solving, an introductory engineering technology course for students entering engineering technology programs at Lorain County Community College. The role involves delivering engaging, in-person instruction at the Lorain Correctional Institution (LorCI) and/or Grafton Reintegration Center (GRC) in Grafton, Ohio. The instructor will teach students to apply a structured problem-solving methodology to technical and engineering-related problems, and instruct students in the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Windows file management, and other computer applications commonly used in engineering technology. Incorporating current instructional technologies, including the Canvas Learning Management System, to support student learning and assessment is also a key responsibility. Evaluating student learning through assignments, projects, quizzes, and other assessment methods, maintaining accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress in accordance with Lorain County Community College and Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) policies, and communicating effectively with students, division faculty, and college staff are also required. The role also requires compliance with all Lorain County Community College and Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) policies and procedures governing instruction within correctional facilities. Courses may be scheduled during daytime or evening hours. Course topics include structured problem-solving methodologies, critical thinking and decision making, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Windows operating system and file management, internet research and information literacy, teamwork and professional communication, and ethical decision making.
