About The Position

The Surgical Technology Program at Lasell University is seeking an onsite Adjunct Professor for the accredited associate degree program offered through the office of workforce development. The course is SURG 101: Surgical Technology I, which will be held during the Summer Main Session from May 19, 2026, to August 31, 2026, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, MA. Lectures and labs will take place every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM. This is a 6-credit hour course with a salary range of $3,000.00 - $3,250.00.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher
  • Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by NBSTSA
  • A minimum total of three years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both
  • Teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Program Director on the delivery of course content and program curricula.
  • Provide instruction for all sessions utilizing the college philosophy of connected learning.
  • Use the Learning Management System, Canvas, to post all required course materials, syllabus, and course outline.
  • Provide and review a syllabus and course outline with students that clearly communicates course learning outcomes and expectations.
  • Align some course assignments with accreditation standards and program goals and objectives.
  • Maintain office hours each week and timely communications with students via email and phone.
  • Keep accurate records of student progress (grades) and adhere to all academic requirements and deadlines set by the University registrar.
  • Delivery of didactic curriculum in an active and engaging manner.
  • Provide hands-on instruction during lab on the foundational skills of surgical technology including, but not limited to, sterility and sterile conscience, gowning, gloving, table set-up, basic draping, and basic concepts of surgical procedures.
  • Responsible for hosting and delivering each class to teach the skills necessary to prepare students for clinical education in the operating room.
  • Instruct and assess all required skills associated with student checkoffs.
  • Provide positive, constructive real-time feedback to students during the lab and follow-up feedback in writing.
