About The Position

Nossi College of Art & Design is seeking energetic and qualified adjunct faculty members for a newly developed course, "Designing for Socials." This course focuses on equipping students with the skills to create compelling graphic content for various social media platforms. Students will learn fundamental design principles, master software like Canva, and develop platform-specific strategies for Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, Pinterest, and TikTok. The course aims to enhance brand identity, explore design trends for maximum engagement, and build student portfolios through project-based learning. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a passion for teaching, and the ability to communicate effectively with students. This is a campus-based position in Nashville, TN.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing (preferred) or related field.
  • At least five years professional experience working in the field that is being taught.
  • Have a strong social media presence.
  • Thorough knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Ability to teach, coach, mentor, and inspire learners.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for teaching.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students.
  • Ability to work collegially in a team environment.
  • Ability to encourage, motivate, and coach college students.
  • Effective classroom management skills.
  • Adaptable to a variety of situations.
  • Ability to relate well to students, other faculty members, and the administration of the College.

Responsibilities

  • Teach students according to approved syllabus.
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
  • Inform students of all course requirements, materials, classroom policies, and grading procedures during the first class meeting.
  • Take and record attendance for each class meeting.
  • Maintain all class records.
  • Monitor and chart each student’s progress through observation, reinforcement, remediation, tutoring, and review.
  • Assist students’ progress by way of weekly quizzes, mid-term and final exams and by maintaining a current record of all grades including projects and presentations.
  • Counsel and advise students.
  • Motivate students to do their best work.
  • Report all students with personal or psychological problems that may hinder academic performance or may result in potential harm to himself or others to the Student Services Director and College leadership.
  • Ensure student grading is completed on time and entered into the grade book consistently.
  • Notify every student, in writing, of their mid-term grade.
  • Make sure that classrooms are in good order at the end of each class.
  • Provide 3 ½ hours of learning opportunity for each class.
