About The Position

Adjunct faculty are essential to providing a quality academic experience for Indiana Wesleyan University students. Adjuncts will employ a range of engaging teaching strategies designed to foster student learning and stimulate class discussion. Applicants must have appropriate academic or professional experience within the given academic discipline, demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning and be able to integrate their Christian faith into the classroom content. Seeking faculty in areas of violin and viola instruction, orchestral directing, and general string techniques instruction.

Requirements

  • According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
  • Master’s degree in music preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Demonstrated talent and accomplishment in relevant playing and/or teaching
  • Teaching experience at the collegiate level preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills, organization skills to facilitate management of student work
  • Ability to communicate with and teach students at all levels of musicianship

Responsibilities

  • Attend and lead all required class sessions
  • Promptly assess student coursework and submit via Brightspace (the university’s learning management system)
  • Coordinate with Division Chair and/or Academic Dean regarding classroom or student issues in a timely manner
