About The Position

CMU Tech’s Allied Health Program is seeking 2 enthusiastic Adjunct Instructors to teach in our Medical Assistant program, one in Montrose and one in Grand Junction. This flexible position is ideal for experienced healthcare professionals—including Medical Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians, Medical Coders/Billers, Medical Administrative Professionals, Nurses, EMTs/Paramedics—who are passionate about preparing students for rewarding careers in healthcare. Courses may be delivered in a hybrid format, combining online instruction with occasional hands-on skills labs that may be supported by CMU Tech’s high-tech Mobile Learning Lab.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a healthcare role such as Medical Assisting, Nursing, Pharmacy Technician, Coding & Billing, Medical Office Management, or EMT/Paramedic.
  • Strong understanding of patient care, clinical workflows, or administrative healthcare systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching or training experience (formal or informal).
  • National certification (e.g., RMA, CMA, CPhT , CPC, NCCT, etc.).
  • Career and Technical Education (CTE) credential or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one or more Medical Assistant courses (e.g., administrative procedures, clinical skills, coding/billing, EHR, pharmacology, patient care).
  • Deliver instruction aligned with approved syllabi, accreditation guidelines, and program standards.
  • Incorporate real-world examples and skillsets that reflect current industry practices.
  • Maintain relevant certifications and licensure.
  • Integrate current industry standards and technologies into teaching practices.
  • Use online learning platforms and tools to support student success.
  • Be available to students outside of class for questions and mentoring.
  • Engage with students using a variety of tools (Zoom, email, phone, synchronous chats).
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Emphasize hands-on, real-world skill development.
  • Tailor instruction to meet diverse student learning needs.
  • Encourage confidence, competence, and professionalism in all students.
  • Support career readiness and credentialing preparation.

Benefits

  • Salary: $600.00 - $850.00 per credit hour.
