About The Position

Ivy Tech Bloomington is seeking a part-time adjunct instructor for the Healthcare Specialist program to teach in person for the upcoming fall semester, with potential for the spring semester. The current courses needing instructors are HLHS 101 Medical Terminology (scheduled on campus Mondays from 1pm-4pm). Potential needs for the spring (January) include HLHS 121- Customer Relations in Healthcare and HLHLS 105- Medical Law and Ethics. Adjuncts are paid $46.75 per contact hour and can teach between 1-13 contact hours per week. Applicants are requested to submit an unofficial copy of relevant college transcripts and/or required certifications demonstrating minimum qualifications. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Requirements

  • For HLHS 101: Meets the Healthcare Specialist Program standard; OR Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years directly related work experience and relevant Medical Terminology coursework; OR Holds a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in any Health Science OR Dental Careers with relevant Medical Terminology coursework.
  • For HLHS 100, 103, 105 and 118: Meets the Healthcare Specialist Program standard; OR Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years directly related work experience; OR Holds a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in any Health Sciences.
  • To teach all HLHS courses: Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution; AND Has a minimum of 2 years directly related work experience; AND Holds certification or licensure in a health care discipline providing care or service directly to patients.
  • Include an Unofficial copy of relevant college transcript and/or required certifications that show minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.
  • Conducts all activities with an appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.
