Adjunct Faculty - Health and Physical Education - Department of Content Area Teacher Education
About The Position
Rowan University, a top national public research institution, is seeking qualified and experienced adjunct faculty in Health and Physical Education and related areas for the College of Education's Department of Content Area Teacher Education (CATE). The college has a longstanding commitment to excellence in teaching, community engagement, and innovative scholarship. The adjunct appointment involves teaching a broad range of courses, including online, face-to-face, or hybrid formats, and supervising teacher candidates. The successful candidate will demonstrate a constructivist-based theoretical framework grounded in social justice and be available during the regular school day.
Requirements
- Master's or doctoral degree in Health and Physical Education and/or related area from an accredited institution of higher education in a field at the time of appointment
- Meets state licensure requirements for teachers
- A minimum of 3 years of successful teaching in P-12 settings
- Demonstrated ability in communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering academic achievement, social and personal responsibility, and social justice
- Demonstrated commitment to working in an environment devoted to collaboration, collegiality, professional development, diversity, scholarly inquiry, student learning, civic responsibility, and respect for all people
- Demonstrated commitment to working with P-12 schools
- A teaching/learning philosophy consistent with the mission of the College of Education
- Eligible to work in the United States
Nice To Haves
- Experience with the Danielson Framework
- Experience with performance assessment measures
- Experience teaching in postsecondary settings
- Experience teaching content in areas such as: technology in health and physical education, fitness, adapted physical education, secondary/elementary curriculum and instruction, motor development
Responsibilities
- Teaching a broad range of courses that include online, face-to-face or hybrid courses
- Supervision of teacher candidates
Benefits
- Minimum of $2,225 per credit for all courses taught
- Maximum teaching load of 8 credits per semester and 12 credits in an academic year
