About The Position

The Adjunct Faculty, Exceptional Student Education position is a part-time faculty position. This position is an instructional position with duties and responsibilities that are established in accordance with State Board of Education Rules and Board of Trustees policies. Teaching assignments may include various general education, exceptional student education, early childhood education, education foundation, reading, or teaching English to speakers of other languages courses. Hours will vary according to class schedules. This position maintains a work week relative to the number of credit hours assigned and reports to the Director of Nursing, Arts, Sciences and Hospitality. All instructors are responsible for utilizing the College’s learning management system, as all College courses are, at a minimum, technology-enhanced.

  • Proficient in the use of technology; prior knowledge with Canvas LMS is preferred.
  • Training in clinical supervision, required.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year teaching experience at the community college level or higher, preferred.
  • Three (3) years’ experience working in exceptional student education in prekindergarten through grade 12, preferred.
  • Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Special Education or Exceptional Student Education.
  • Doctorate in Education with a concentration in Special Education or Exceptional Student Education.
  • Doctorate in Special Education or Exceptional Student Education.
  • Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, Education, or Early Childhood Education with 18 graduate credits in Special Education or Exceptional Student Education.
  • ESE Professional Certificate, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, and instructs assigned courses to promote student success.
  • Maintains required office hours to provide assistance to students and communication with administration.
  • Responsible for evaluating student learning and objective achievement and providing feedback.
  • Selects appropriate materials and equipment for discipline or program use and ensures proper care and safety in their use.
  • Adheres to and enforces the administrative policies and procedures of the College.
  • Works with other Faculty to evaluate and revise existing courses and to develop new courses.
  • Assists in implementing College policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with the College Mission Statement.
  • Responsible for keeping current in the discipline or program areas taught.
  • Attends College-wide academic and staff meetings and academic official functions as appropriate.
  • Maintains good relationships with community agencies and groups and participates as appropriate.
  • Attends Graduation/Commencement is encouraged.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Adjunct Instructors earn $543 - $727 per credit hour, based on degree level.
