About The Position

Responsible for collaborating with and supporting schools in addressing academic and behavioral problem-solving at the supplemental and intensive intervention level. The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. Requirements

  • Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS).
  • Knowledge of various academic and behavioral interventions to address student needs.
  • Ability to effectively engage in the problem-solving process.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate groups to consensus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes.
  • Ability to facilitate data-based discussions with school-based teams.
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the field of Education or Exceptional Student Education.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in the area of assignment.
  • Valid Florida Educator's Certificate in the area of Exceptional Student Education.

  • Two years' experience in a similar position.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate effective team-based collaborative action planning and problem-solving processes related to academics and behavior.
  • Collect and analyze multiple sources of classroom data and individual student data to inform the problem-solving process.
  • Disseminate evidence-based content knowledge of academic and behavioral interventions to address student needs.
  • Provide evidence-based professional development, instructional coaching, behavioral coaching, and technical assistance to support data-based problem-solving with school teams.
  • Provide specialized instructional techniques through individual or group sessions designed to meet the needs of students.
  • Plan and implement self-care programs to provide direct assistance to students including, but not limited to, toileting, positioning, lifting, feeding, etc.
  • Assist in building capacity of problem-solving knowledge related to academics and behavior with school-based teams.
  • Confer with other teachers and staff concerning any educational needs of students identified as eligible for Exceptional Student Education (ESE) services.
  • Evaluate the impact of support implementation on student outcome measures.
  • Collaborate with school personnel in coordinating ESE services within the school.
  • Attend training sessions, conferences, and workshops as assigned to keep abreast of current practices, programs, and regulations.
  • Assist in other areas related to Student Services, including Progress Monitoring Plans (PMP), English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)/English Language Learners (ELL), and Section 504, as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in developing, writing, and updating Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Provide quarterly Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Progress Reports to parents.
  • Provide specially designed instruction to Exceptional Student Education (ESE) students as outlined on their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Assist teachers in implementing effective classroom management strategies and/or interventions.
  • Develop behavior plans and specific intervention plans for students and assist in their implementation, including using appropriate resources and technology to promote development of critical thinking, problem solving, and pro-social behavior in students.
  • Work with students in classrooms to reach goals as determined by their educational plan.
  • Work with students in one-on-one and group settings to develop the skills and self-esteem necessary for identified students to exercise meaningful options in areas of school, leisure, and inter/intra personal relationships.
  • Provide support to students who display impulsive behaviors, low self-esteem, and impaired social skills.
  • Conduct ongoing follow-up assessment/evaluation/observation of progress on the behavior plans.
  • Assist teachers in the identification and development of individualized behavior interventions intended to change behaviors; using evidence based strategies.
  • Collect data regarding student behaviors and recommend appropriate instructional modifications to develop responsible thinking and decision-making skills in students.
  • Identify and implement appropriate interventions for students in need of additional assistance.
  • Assist with professional development for administrators and teachers on behavior intervention, anger management, as well as other topics and support the staff in the implementation of their new learning.
  • Assist families and school staff in accessing community resources.
  • Assist in provision of support and informational workshops for parent/guardians.
  • Keep teachers and other staff informed of progress, incidents, and concerns.
  • Participate in in-service training programs designed to improve the ability to provide procedural, curricular, or behavioral assistance.
  • Review current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related to responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures.
  • Comply with District policies and procedures ESE, 504, and ELL students.
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.
  • Complete required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
