Adjunct Faculty- English Instructor
About The Position
Illinois Central College is seeking a qualified individual to provide innovative instruction in English composition. Adjunct Faculty are primarily responsible for instructing assigned courses meeting classroom standards. The Adjunct Faculty must follow institutional syllabi. Additionally, Adjunct Faculty are required to maintain office hours to best ensure student success. Adjunct Faculty teach on a part-time basis up to 12 contact hours per semester. We currently have an urgent need for adjuncts to cover the following eight-week classes in-person: ENGL 110 Thursdays 5:30pm to 8:20pm (in-person only) ENGL 110 Mondays & Wednesdays 10:00am - 11:15am (in-person only) For information on compensation please click the link below. Requirements
- Master's degree in English or master's degree in any discipline plus 18 graduate credit hours in English.
- Applicants must be a resident of Illinois at the time of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Experience teaching transfer-level English Composition, developmental reading and writing, co-requisite or accelerated courses, and/or teaching writing within the context of particular industries, disciplines, or academic fields is preferred.
- Ph.D. in relevant academic discipline also desirable.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the highest possible standards of English accreditation and nursing education.
- Prepare content lesson plans to adhere to program curricular framework and threaded concepts.
- Coordinate classroom teaching and learning activities and conducts assessment strategies for assigned class.
- Assess student learning outcomes and evaluates program outcomes.
- Gather, document, and analyze student assessment results for the program assessment plan.
- Seek professional development to remain current with education, workforce trends, and emerging technology.
- Maintain skills through professional development, continuing education, and scholarly activities appropriate to higher education and discipline.
- Collaborate effectively with full-time and adjunct faculty members.
- Actively serve on college, department, and program committees.
- Actively participate in student recruitment and academic advisement activities.
- Support college-wide initiatives and actively participates in organizational meetings.
- Perform assigned responsibilities during the day, evening and/or weekend on any campus.
- Perform related duties as required.
