About The Position

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education serving Central Virginia. The college is known for its outstanding transfer curriculum, its relationship with the University of Virginia, and its Workforce Development Programs. This position may involve teaching at various PVCC locations, including the Giuseppe Center in Greene County and correctional facilities in Fluvanna, Buckingham, and Dillwyn. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis for adjunct faculty positions in English. PVCC is expanding its credit course offerings in English Composition and Literature for incarcerated students at Fluvanna Correctional Center, Buckingham Correctional Center, and Dillwyn Correctional Center. Requirements

  • Master's degree in English or a related field, or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in English.
  • Experience teaching English Composition and Literature at the college level.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching incarcerated students.
  • Experience with distance learning or remote instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching developmental and/or college-level courses.
  • Teaching distance-learning courses.
  • Teaching during the day and evening.
  • Teaching on weekdays and weekends.
  • Primarily face-to-face instruction with the possibility of remote instruction.
