About The Position

Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a part-time Adjunct Faculty - Electrician Apprenticeship Instructor on our West Bend Campus. The successful candidate will have an Associate degree in a related field and two years (4,000 hours) of paid work experiences related to the program(s) being taught, including one year (2,000 hours) of paid work experience that has been acquired within the past five years. In lieu of this one year of recent experiences, two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the past five years may be considered. Requirements

  • Associate degree in a related field
  • Two years (4,000 hours) of paid work experiences related to the program(s) being taught
  • One year (2,000 hours) of paid work experience that has been acquired within the past five years (or two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the past five years)
  • Performed the installation of electrical wiring and associated equipment in either a residential, commercial, or industrial setting
  • Conduct safety briefs with work crews; ability to identify hazardous conditions on the job-site.
  • Read and understand specifications and drawings
  • Implemented work practices according to most current National Electrical Code requirements
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC theory
  • Working knowledge of Transformer theory and operation
  • Working knowledge of Green Technologies in Power
  • Working knowledge of Programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
  • Working knowledge of Electrical fabrication (mounting systems, supports, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Wisconsin Electrical Code
  • Working knowledge of Single and 3-phase Electrical Motors
  • Working knowledge of Ohm’s Law
  • Working knowledge of Capacitors and Capacitor Reactance
  • Working knowledge of Parallel Circuits and Series Circuits
  • Upon hire, must maintain and/or obtain Higher Learning Commission, Faculty Quality Assurance System, and other agency requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and facilitate learning in the assigned courses according to the College’s core values.
  • Establish a professional and safe learning environment.
  • Set the classroom tone by modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior.
  • Maintain a positive climate for learning by performing classroom management and being aware of, monitoring, and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Meet student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments.
  • Maintain student confidentiality, records, and documentation as required by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Submit grades within the expected time-frame.
  • Provide timely verbal and written feedback to the students to ensure continued growth and development.
  • May participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and updating of curriculum.
  • Assist with student recruitment and positively promote the College programs and services offered.
  • Promote retention and student success through the utilization of referrals to College services and resources.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with K-12, Department of Corrections (DOC), community, and industry partners beyond the classroom.
  • Actively maintain proficient knowledge and skills in emerging trends and current occupational practices.
  • Complete annual professional development activities in areas of Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS) competencies.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies for the classroom and labs, as necessary to support the assigned program area and future trends in industry.

Benefits

  • Adjunct pay rates may vary between $39.85 - $44.25/hour based on course configuration
