About The Position

The College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University invites applications for a non-tenure track part time faculty lecturer in the Graduate School of Education on the Oakland campus. The successful candidate will teach graduate level courses in the Master of Arts in Educational Leadership program at Northeastern University’s Oakland campus. The program prepares current and aspiring educational leaders with the knowledge and skills needed for leadership in K through 12 educational settings. The curriculum emphasizes the integration of research and practice, reflective leadership, educational equity, and the application of theory to real world educational settings. The College of Professional Studies is one of ten colleges of Northeastern University, a nationally ranked private research university. Founded in 1960, the College provides lifelong experiential learning that unleashes the capacities of aspiring individuals in all stages and walks of life. The College teaches undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students on campus and online in more than 90 programs. Requirements

  • Doctorate degree in education, educational leadership, or a related field required.
  • Candidates should have relevant professional experience and demonstrated expertise in one or more areas represented in the Educational Leadership curriculum.
  • Experience teaching graduate students and connecting academic knowledge with educational leadership practice is preferred.
  • For courses focused on working with families and communities, substantial professional or educational experience in family and community engagement, educational leadership, school and community partnerships or related work is preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and addressing educational equity through collaborative and inclusive approaches is also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Qualified candidates must be prepared to work with global student populations.
  • Teach graduate courses within the Master of Arts in Educational Leadership program. Courses may include Working with Families and the Community and other courses across the Educational Leadership curriculum that align with the candidate’s areas of expertise.
  • Responsibilities include preparing and teaching course sessions, developing and assessing assignments, maintaining course materials in Canvas, facilitating graduate level discussion and applied learning, grading and providing feedback on student work, meeting with students as needed, and supporting students in connecting research, theory, policy, and professional practice.
