About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) is seeking adjunct faculty to teach part-time, face-to-face instruction in the College of Arts and Media at our Phoenix campus. This specific course, "Designing with Type," explores the fundamentals and traditions of designing with type, corporate design, and the integration of vector designs and photography into promotional pieces. Students will propose and create solutions for visual problems using type, engaging in reading, writing, and lab assignments, culminating in the creation and exhibition of student artwork.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in communication arts, graphic design, illustration, animation, or other related discipline.
Industry-level knowledge of typography, terminology and history, font management, page design and composition, and design and production of single and multi-page products.
Understanding of ink on paper and pixels on screen production requirements including color model, resolution, file format, file size, aspect ratios, and file prep and distribution.
Industry-level knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Behance, and Creative Cloud Libraries.
Ability to teach on the most current version of the Adobe software products.
A portfolio of current work examples is required with the application to teach.

3 or more years’ experience in the design industry.
